Works by Fire
Working with ancient materials and techniques, I collaborate with extreme temperatures and allow fiber, glass, and bronze to speak in their own way

Backstory
Fire is my favorite tool. I am drawn to high adrenaline craft intensive spaces of the hot glass shop and foundry where working temperatures hover above 2,000F. Developing models for my castings, I start with freehand cutouts of brightly colored wool. Stitching and felting intuitively, I use the kitchen torch to infuse them with encaustic medium. My creative process is grounded in cross-pollinating the traditional making rituals of fiber, glass, and bronze work. The reliable comfort of predictable steps allows me to engage in conversation with materials that have influenced the course of human development thousands of years before flatscreens.
